when the flood walls fail
Submitted by David_Zach on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 9:44pm.
hard times up north. the uncertainty of pending storms and threatening floods. sand bags carried in the cold to hold back the red river. roofs that look like islands. and for me it feels like a metaphor for the condition of my heart. like my namesake puts it:
"...the waters are come in to my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me...mine eyes fail while I wait for my God."
for anyone going through it up north, and for those of us w/ a rising tide on the inside - let's keep holding on - even when our eyes fail - let's keep looking to the east at first light.

feeling a bit like David today, more so as the day has wound down
Today has been one of those flooding type of days. I feel like quoting David in Psalms where he says, "My eyes fail looking for your promises....when will you comfort me." Never giving up hope, just a little worn and a bit disheartened today.

Yes, somebody cares!!!
I can't believe somebody knows what was going on up here during that. I used to live in Lincoln, (where you guys are from if I'm right) and now I live in Moorhead, MN right across the river from Fargo where I lived for two years. We spent days sandbagging in sub zero temperatures for our friends and family and church members. My highschool was dismissed for three weeks and turned into a shelter for people displaced by the flood. It's so nice to know that someone out there who has some status actually took notice of what happened here.
grew up hearing the stories.
grew up hearing the stories. still working on making them a reality for me.
wow you guys actually
wow you guys actually communicated with people...how unexpected...very kewl...how did you guys come to know christ??
hard times.
i really like how you say:
"... the waters are come in to my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me...mine eyes fail while I wait for my God."
